Who we are
AmbleVerse is operated from Nigeria and is subject to the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR). Under those rules we are the data controller for the information described here. If you are outside Nigeria, your information is processed on servers located outside Nigeria — see “Where your information lives” below.
What we collect
Account details you give us: your name, email address, phone number, age, gender and role (warrior, guardian, caregiver or healthcare provider).
Health information you record: pain levels and crisis flags, medication and other items you track, streaks, sleep and symptom notes, emergency-room visits, and any free-text notes you write.
Emergency contact details you provide, so we can reach someone on your behalf.
Location, but only when you use an emergency feature that shares it. We store the most recent position only and overwrite it each time — we never build a movement trail.
Technical information needed to deliver the service: your device push token, and basic app and device details.
Why we use it
To show you your own health record and let you log to it.
To send reminders you have asked for, such as medication and check-in prompts.
To alert the people in your care circle when you trigger an emergency, or when your logs indicate a crisis. This is the reason connected carers can see your information.
To keep the service working and secure.
We do not sell your information. We do not use it for advertising. We do not use your health information to train AI models.
Who can see your health information
Only people you have accepted into your care circle. A guardian, caregiver or healthcare provider sees your logs because you accepted their connection request, and you can remove that connection at any time.
Someone describing themselves as a healthcare provider is not verified by us as one. Treat a connection request the way you would treat handing someone your notes.
Our administrators can access records where necessary to run and support the service.
The AI companion
If you use the in-app companion, the messages you send it — and a short summary of your recent health context — are processed to generate a reply. Treat that conversation the way you would treat anything you type into an app: don't put something in it you would not want stored.
The companion is not a doctor and its replies are not medical advice. In an emergency, use the emergency button or contact a hospital.
Where your information lives
Your data is stored on servers outside Nigeria, operated by our hosting and database providers. Where information leaves Nigeria we rely on the transfer conditions in the Nigeria Data Protection Act, and we require our providers to protect it to a comparable standard.
Information is encrypted in transit. Passwords are stored hashed and are never readable by us or by anyone else.
How long we keep it
For as long as your account exists. Your health record is a clinical history and is valuable precisely because it is continuous, so we do not quietly discard old entries.
If you deactivate your account, your profile is hidden and notifications stop, but nothing is erased — signing in again restores everything. This is deliberate, and it means deactivating is not the same as erasing.
Your rights
Under the NDPR you can ask to see the information we hold about you, ask us to correct anything wrong, ask us to delete it, object to how we use it, or ask for a copy in a portable form.
Deleting a health record can affect the carers connected to you, and some information may need to be retained where the law requires it. We will tell you if that applies rather than quietly keeping it.
To exercise any of these, contact us using the address below. You also have the right to complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Changing your role
The role you chose when you signed up — warrior, guardian, caregiver or healthcare provider — decides which screens you see and what the app shows you. You can change it whenever you like.
Open your Profile and tap “Change Role”. Reading this policy will never change your role, and nothing on this page will do it for you.
Changing role does not delete anything. Your logs, streaks, achievements and the people in your circle all stay on your account, and switching back restores the same view you had before.
Deactivating your account
You can deactivate your account from your Profile at any time. Deactivating hides you from other people's searches and stops all notifications.
Nothing is erased. Everything you have recorded stays on your account, and signing in again reactivates it automatically with all of it intact.
If you want your information actually deleted rather than hidden, contact us using the address below and we will handle it as a deletion request under the section above.
Children
Sickle cell is often managed from childhood, so younger users are expected. Where a user is a minor, a guardian account is responsible for them and consent is given by that guardian.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will say so in the app rather than only updating the date at the top.

This is the same policy that ships inside the app. You can read it at any time from the AmbleVerse app itself, without a network connection — it is bundled into the app rather than fetched, so it is always available, including on first launch and before you sign in.
